Bruce Cooke-Dallin — I have spent a lifetime immersed in the joys of a West Coast lifestyle, combining both a love of nature and the outdoors - through the joys of boating, hiking, beachcombing, fishing and gathering - with a passionate appreciation for the wide range of flavours and tastes available to be enjoyed and shared. These interests are expressed in a careful approach to the stewardship required to maintain the environment that supports them. Our excursions tread lightly, conscious of speed and fuel-use; we recycle, compost and re-use extensively.
For the past 14 years I have been a university-college professor in the field of Child and Youth Care, teaching and studying the topics that will benefit our present and future generations of young people. I have been deeply involved in programs for First Nations students throughout Vancouver Island and in the process have learned and continue to learn about the cultures of the people who are indigenous to the island. Our respect for the heritage of the first peoples and for their traditional territories, which we share, is an aspect of everything that we do.
